Research on exercise and atrial fibrillation had a central place in this year’s programme of the seminar Exercise in Medicine.
Leader of the NEXAF initiative Marius Myrstad (Bærum Hospital) presenting the topic of long-term effects of endurance sports on the risk of atrial fibrillation, as well as introducing the ongoing NEXAF Detraining study to visiting national and international participants. The ongoing NEXAF Trial was presented by Jon Magne Letnes (NTNU/St. Olavs Hospital, Trondheim), also highlighting some of the unanswered questions regarding exercise in atrial fibrillation.
The 9th seminar on Exercise in Medicine was held on the 14th-15th December at the Cardiac Exercise Research Group in Trondheim. The seminar focused on brain health, heart health, genetics, and biomarkers in both athletes and the general population. The seminar was also a tribute to prof. emeritus Øyvind Ellingsen who recently retired after a great academic career.
